Tummy Tuck Surgeon in Fort Myers & Cape Coral, FL

If you are struggling to maintain a tight, flat stomach, you are not alone. The stomach can be a big problem area for many people, and it can be frustrating to see a lack of results even when you are putting in the work to lose weight or tighten your muscles.

As we age, many of us find it difficult to keep the shape and contour we once had on our abdomens—even if we stay diligent in our diets and exercise routines. Unfortunately, this problem often only increases over time. Luckily, there is a simple solution for people who want a firmer, smoother, and more attractive midsection.

At Beauty by Brueck, we offer abdominoplasty surgery, commonly known as the “tummy tuck,” to patients in Fort Myers, Cape Coral, and Punta Gorda, Florida. Our board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Robert Brueck, has performed countless body contouring procedures to help his patients achieve a healthier and more youthful appearance.

If you are interested in learning more about the tummy tuck and want to know if this procedure might be right for you, please call us at 239-939-5233 today to schedule your initial consultation with Dr. Brueck!

Why Would I Want a Tummy Tuck?

Tummy tuck surgeries are very popular at our office. Because the midsection is such a difficult area to maintain for so many people, we frequently have patients inquire about tummy tuck procedures and how the surgery can help them.

There are several different reasons you may want to consider a tummy tuck:

  • You have lost significant weight and have loose or hanging patches of skin in the abdominal area
  • Your stomach stretched during pregnancy and you are struggling to regain your pre-baby body
  • You tend to carry your excess weight in your stomach, even when you can successfully tone other parts of your body
  • Your weight tends to fluctuate and you have developed stretch marks as a result
  • You are unable to tone your stomach muscles despite consistent exercise and targeted strength work

As you can see, tummy tucks can be helpful for a variety of different medical and cosmetic problems.

Abdominoplasty is particularly popular among people who have lost significant weight. A tummy tuck can be a great post-weight loss surgery as it really tightens up your stomach and allows you to better see the results of your hard work. If you have excess, sagging skin due to weight loss, your tummy tuck before-and-after photos will show significant change.

What Are the Benefits of a Tummy Tuck?

Tummy tucks are an ideal cosmetic surgery when other, more conservative methods have failed. The main benefit of a tummy tuck is that it can provide real, lasting results even when diet and exercise have not made enough of a difference.

Our caring, board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Robert Brueck, will meet with you for a cosmetic surgery consultation to discuss your hopes and goals for your tummy tuck procedure. During this  consultation, our cosmetic surgery team can go over some of the benefits of tummy tucks, including:

  • Reduced appearance of stretch marks
  • A more defined waistline
  • Improved abdominal tone
  • Higher tolerance for exercise
  • Tighter, stronger core muscles
  • Reduced fat and sagging around the waist

If you have been craving a toned, tight stomach, you may want to consider a tummy tuck. Tummy tucks can do what even healthy lifestyle choices sometimes fail to do—tighten and repair skin and muscles that have been permanently stretched.

What Happens During Tummy Tuck Surgery?

At Beauty by Brueck, Dr. Brueck routinely performs traditional tummy tucks as well as mini tummy tucks, or the “mini abdominoplasty.” The type of procedure that is best for you will depend on your personal needs and the specific areas of your abdomen you are trying to target. Together, you and Dr. Brueck can determine the best course of treatment during your initial tummy tuck consultation.

Traditional tummy tuck surgeries are best for patients who:

  • Have excess fat in all areas of the abdomen
  • Want to tighten and smooth areas of skin and muscle throughout their stomach

tummy tuck for unwanted abdominal skinThe traditional, or “full,” tummy tuck surgery typically lasts for several hours, and you will be under anesthesia the entire time. During your tummy tuck surgery, Dr. Brueck will usually make several incisions across your lower abdomen in order to provide optimal access to your unwanted belly fat. Your tummy tuck scars should be very minimal and will usually be placed below your bikini line so that they can easily be hidden by clothing or a bathing suit.

An abdominoplasty will always leave scars, but for the majority of patients, the scars are small and tend to fade over time.

Mini tummy tucks are best for patients who:

  • Have excess fat that is concentrated only below the belly button
  • Want to focus only on stretched skin and tissue below the navel

Mini tummy tucks are shorter and less invasive procedures than traditional tummy tucks. You will likely need fewer, shorter incisions with a mini tummy tuck, and your tummy tuck scars will be less noticeable.

Regardless of which type of tummy tuck procedure you choose, the goal of the surgery is the same: to remove excess abdominal fat and tighten the muscles around your stomach. During your tummy tuck, Dr. Brueck will carefully and precisely remove the extra skin and fatty tissue around your stomach in order to provide you with a sculpted, contoured, and better-defined waistline. You will be amazed at the difference you will see in your tummy tuck before-and-after photos!

Because tummy tucks are not recommended as a weight loss surgery, you will want to make sure you are at a stable, healthy weight before you proceed with your tummy tuck. If you are a smoker, you will also need to stop smoking and stop using any nicotine-containing product for the duration of your treatment. Smoking can cause dangerous complications and greatly hinder your recovery.

What Does Tummy Tuck Recovery Look Like?

As is the case with any surgical procedure, tummy tucks require a period of rest and recovery after you leave our surgical center.

At Beauty by Brueck, our primary concern is for our patients’ comfort and safety. Before your tummy tuck, you will be given thorough post-operative instructions from our staff. Please be sure to ask any additional questions you may have and to clarify any points you are unsure of before your scheduled surgery date.

Your tummy tuck recovery can take several months. You will need to be especially careful for the first week after your surgery. Plan on taking at least a full week off from work, and use this time to sleep, rest, and recuperate. During this first week, you will need to move carefully and avoid strenuous activity. You will visit Dr. Brueck within the first week or two after surgery for a follow-up appointment to make sure your body is healing properly.

It is normal for your abdomen to be swollen and sore after your surgery. Some patients experience mild pain for only a few days after their tummy tuck, while others have pain that persists for several weeks. Dr. Brueck can prescribe pain medications as needed to help you return to your daily activities more quickly.

Your body is unique, which means that your tummy tuck recovery will also be unique to you. It is impossible to say exactly how long you will need to heal or how quickly your swelling will subside, but our board-certified plastic surgeon is here to help you every step of the way. Please do not hesitate to contact our office at any time with questions or to schedule an additional follow-up appointment.

How Much Does a Tummy Tuck Cost?

There is no one-size-fits-all price for a tummy tuck. Your tummy tuck cost will depend on several factors, including the type of procedure you are having done, how long you need to be under anesthesia, and if you are combining your tummy tuck with any other treatment.

Dr. Brueck believes in being honest with all his patients, which is why we always provide a surgical cost estimate before your surgery. We believe in providing the very best in cosmetic surgery for our community, and we strive to keep our costs competitive. Our board-certified plastic surgeon accepts credit and debit cards, cash, checks, and CareCredit financing as forms of payment.
