Up, Up and Away

There is a new kid on the block.  One of the more popular New Year’s resolution is that “I’m going to lose weight”.  I know, I have been there.  Well there is a new FDA  approved weight loss crutch…it is called Obalon.  It is a series of balloons placed in your stomach over a series of a few months.  These balloon s are filled with nitrogen gas and slowly ease the capacity of your stomach so you feel full and eat less.  At the end of 6 months the balloons are removed easily as an outpatient.  All this is done as an outpatient in the doctor’s office.  In their initial trial, patients lost 1.9 times as much weight as people on diet and exercise programs.  What was even more encouraging was the weight loss was maintained at 12 months.  To find out more contact Surgical Healing Arts at (239) 344-9786.
