Tummy tucks are very popular.  It is an important component in the newly defined “mommy makeover”.  Part of doing a tummy tuck is how do we deal with the protruding abdomen.  More often than not the protruding or bulging of the low abdomen is due to a condition called diastasis recti which means separation of the rectus or abdominal muscles.  This is so common following pregnancy.  How we repair that separation shows some variability.  One study analyzed several techniques and what they found to be MOST effective was a simple continuous suture.  This is the technique that I use 100% of the time.
