I recently read a very interesting article about facelifting in identical twins. The article discussed different techniques in 4 sets of identical twins and one set of identical triplets. The technique utilized was randomized. There were basically 2 techniques used – a short scar technique and a full incision technique. The results were evaluated at 1 year and at 5 years. The results? At the one year anniversary BOTH techniques gave similar results however at 5 years the full incision technique got better results in those twins that had full incision techniques versus the short scar. Where was the difference? In the neck. Long term neck improvement is better with full incision techniques.
