As we speed a head here in the 21st century we all want a quick and easy and I might add inexpensive fix to appear younger and better. We all want the perfect world. However, a word of caution. One recent non-surgical technique is called Kybella. These are injections to melt fat under the chin and the product known as deoxycholic acid. They are not inexpensive and may lead to results you may not like. I do a lot of neck lifts and you have to be careful if you “melt” away the fat you may not like what you find lurking under that fatty layer like neck bands. These are those unsightly muscle bands that show a person’s age. Yes, the fat is gone but now you have the bands that more than reveal your age! Also when you “devolumize” the face you are in essence letting air out of the balloon hence, more loose skin. So you need to be a little cautious.
Another popular procedure I see advertised a lot is a “liquid” facelift”. These are supposed to be cheaper with no down time. I have seen numerous patients who have spent thousands of dollars on fillers only to be disappointed. If you have loose saggy skin it will take a lot of fillers which equals a lot of dollars to restore a more natural youthful appearance to your face. Now in my practice I probably do fat grafting to maybe 60% or more of my patients. Instead of only using one, two or three cc’s of filler, I can add 10,20 or more cc’s of fat to an aging sagging face. It is far more cost effective and the fat that survives is yours. It won’t go away in 6 months or so.
