More and more we see patients coming in requesting brachioplasty or arm lifts. Usually these are people who have undergone bariatric surgery and have lost considerable weight – some as much as 150 pounds or more. An article reviewed 2294 patients in multiple centers, who underwent brachioplasty. Most brachioplasty patients were older (above 50) and diabetic. Major complications occurred in 3/4 % of brachioplasties with infection (1.7)% and hematoma (1.1%) being the most common. This complication rate is much lower than previously reported.
